Yes, we've been told by kids themselves and many, many parents, that the books have been enjoyed by members of the family who are not themselves athletic. While the story involves some sports themes the books are mostly about relationships and the challenges of coming of age. Kids who have been bullied seem to appreciate the novels a great deal.
